GLA:D Program

GLA:D Program

The GLA:D® program (Good Life with Arthritis: Denmark) is an education and exercise program developed by researchers in Denmark for people with hip or knee osteoarthritis (OA) symptoms.

OA is the most common lifestyle condition affecting individuals 65 year of age and older, but can also affect those as young as 30.

Current national and international clinical guidelines recommend patient education, exercise and weight loss as first line treatment for osteoarthritis. In Australia however, treatment usually focuses on surgery and the GLA:D Australia program offers a better and safer alternative.

Joining this program can help you to strengthen and correct daily movement patterns. You will be able to train your body to move efficiently, prevent symptom progression, and reduce pain (if any).

Our GLA:D approach

At your initial appointment, our certified physiotherapist will explain the program and collect data on the baseline functional ability of your body.

This will be followed by two sessions where you will be educated about how the program can improve joint stability and can reduce symptoms.

Following the above process, you will go through group neuromuscular training sessions which will take place twice a week for six weeks at our facility that will improve your ability to control your muscles and joints.
